There is never enough time on a crafty weekend

Well my long weekend is sadly over. Boooo. I managed to fully complete 13 carry bags (there were 14 but one is too small after having a mishap with the serger. :P (anyone have a doll smaller than a Blythe that wants a bag?) I have a load more that have zippers done and are almost done. I ran out of zippers so I have to order some more before I can finish all I cut out. I was going to list everything in the shop in one big go but that will take FOREVER to photograph so I think I will list in batches. I will probably list these on Saturday.

I also finished up the top for my Coin Quilt. It wound up too wide for the flannel I had so I ordered some wide flannel off Fabric.com. They take PayPal….I am in so much trouble now. Heehee

Other than that I went on walks/runs with Kitaro, watch two CSI DVDs, washed the ferret (yeah Napoleon loved that…hehe) and did whatever the cats wanted me to do.

Vegas baby!

Gosh I never did blog about my latest trip! Well as crappy as 2007 has been there have been some highlights. I usually don’t go anywhere! But this year between work and vacation I have been to Colorado twice, Vegas twice, and to Florida!

This time I took Gracie and Nora with me to Las Vegas. I had a fantastic time and met up with Laura who is every so sweet! She brought Marzipan (Princess a la Mode) and Olivia (Goldie) with her. Even though we had never met in person I gabbed on like I’ve known her for years! It was a seriously awesome time.

I didn’t win big on the slot machines (I loves me some penny slots) but I did win a little at bingo over at Sam’s Town. Yes, I am a huge mix of quirky things that traditionally either very old or very young people like.

This time we stayed as the Flamingo which is a really good spot at it is pretty much in the middle of a lot of things. We had a GO room which was neat because of the automatic blinds and the tv in the bathroom mirror. I have still yet to go to the Freemont area but there is always next time huh. Oh yes and the spa….massage, scrub, wrap, mani/pedi, and a scalp treatment. Should I even become filthy rich I am having a spa day every week (after I pay all my bills, redo my house and yard, set up trusts for my nieces and nephew, but a long-arm quilting machine, get those invisible braces, and a DSLR camera).

As usual there was lots of shopping, site seeing, and doll photos taken. Whew saves me from having photos taken of myself! We also checked out the decorations at the Bellagio….breathtaking! And walking walking walking! It was a good thing though to balance out the food since it was the first week of the Biggest Loser challenge at work.

All in all I had a great time and look forward to some more vacations in 2008. I hopefully will get to go to Florida again for TechEd and I need to take a trip back home to Indiana. And I just want to pick somewhere random to go…like Portland since it seems to be chock-full of crafty and awesome people.

I hired my own detective

Ok well I ordered a custom art doll from Original Youth based on my favorite little Belgian detective. Hercule Poirot arrived this week and he is just darling!

This weekend has mostly been spend sleeping in very late, cleaning a tad and cutting out tons of Dolly Body Bags for the shop. I am going to be a busy girl over the upcoming 4-day weekend!

Crafty to-do list and whatnot

I am writing from work so no pretty pictures from my vacation to Las Vegas…I shall have to post some of those later. What I wanted to do is get my thoughts together on some of my crafty to-dos and such.

Having completed the quilt for my sister, I now want to work on some more quilt projects. I’m hoping that it arrived on time for her birthday last week. Candace lent me her Strip Fencing pattern so I think I will try that next.

In Blythe news I have been working on more Dolly Body Bags and am gonig to try another Skipper pattern tonight.

So here is my To Do:

  • Update Crafting 365 on Flicker (what do I do about the missing days from vacation? Use the most artistic photo I took that day?)
  • Sew lots of Dolly Body Bags to list after Christmas (shipping would be insane until then me thinks)
  • Do that 8 Things blog post from Flissy
  • Try that Strip Fencing pattern
  • Do laundry from vacation :)
  • Make holiday dress for Candace’s Candy using the fabric she bought. Check
  • Try a new Skipper pattern Check
  • Send the stuff to Sarah I have for her
  • Blog more!
  • Design and test double body bag

On the Dolly Body Bags…I’m so so pleased that they are such a hit! I made my first once just because I wanted something easy for when I brought Gracie to work and it’s so cool that other people wanted that too! Taking Gracie and Nora with me to Vegas was a breeze with the bags. Someone asked for a double bag so I need to work on that too…oo better go back and put that on the list!

Oh yeah and last week at work we started a Biggest Loser challenge. Everyone that is participating put in $50 and whomever loses the largest percentage of their starting weight by March 3rd gets the pot! We are up to about $1000 in the pot too….I could get new clothes…and a new doll! To that end I am going back on Weight Watchers points and am going to try Yoga. The WW points I like since it is really geared towards getting you to chose food with low fat and high fiber but doesn’t really try to force you into specific foods or some unnaturally skewed diet. You want a cookie? Have the cookie by all means, take the points for it and decide how you want to handle the rest of your points for the day. There are some yummy things that turn out to be 0 points so that is a good offset. And I’m hoping the challenge will help me cut out a lot of soda and walk the freakin 6 feet to the water cooler. Seriously now that I am back in a cube the water thing is right outside of where I sit….and I walk all the way accross the building to the soda machine!!!! WTF!
