Yeah, I’m at home on Halloween. I have to work our maintenance window and defragment some Exchange databases and do an install of RPC over HTTP. Oh yeah, I’m a rockin!
I did however stay home from work today as I am going to be working tonight and in addition to my window stuff I’m going to take the time to do other work stuff since I won’t be interrupted. This afternoon I went to Devon to check out a house she wants to rent then to Olive Garden for lunch and a little shopping. The house is super cool so it will be nice if Devon moves there.
You may also see that I changed up the theme a little bit. I toyed around with the idea of hiring someone to do a logo, but in the end made something myself. This will be part of the new SewPixie Designs shop.
Oh yes, and happy 3rd birthday to my little ferret Napoleon! Yay!

YAY! I finished the glitter shrug and this alpaca triangle shawl. I used nearly 3 skeins of Misti Alpaca. The pattern (from Lion Brand) calls for a crochet edging that you work as you bind off. Problem is…I crochet left handed so I could not for the life of my figure out how the hell to follow the instructions. See, when you crochet left handed you work left to right and I assume that right handers work right to left.
Despite the crochet difficulties I love the shawl. I blocked it and everything. It is a little on the small side but I think it will work nice to warm up a little at work. Really, why do they insist on keeping offices so cold? I can understand a little on the cool side as there are a lot of people, but should my nose be cold?
How about you? Is the temperature of your workplace way out of whack? If you work at home, do you fight over temperature with other inhabitants?

Do you recall how I thought about relaunching the Etsy shop with my brand name rather than rjbenefiel? Well, I was too slow! There is a SewPixie shop from California that does something totally different that opened about 2 weeks ago. *sigh* So I registered SewPixieDesigns instead. Meh.
I still need to set a relaunch date. November 1, 2007 was my goal last year and I opened just a little earlier than that. I do have to work in the wee hours of Saturday so who knows maybe I will get it done for November 1, 2008. I want to restock though so probably more like 01.01.09.
Oh yes…and at lunch today I spilled a whole glass of Diet Dr. Pepper on my lap. Pttttt

Pixel and KoKo actually teamed up tonight to try and take my dinner. I know better now that if I have a steak to hold on to the plate. Once, I went into another room and left a steak unattended. I had already started on it so there was a large piece and then a couple of small pieces that had been cut. I come back to just the small pieces. Pixel was down the hall with this huge piece in the bottom part of his cat condo. Seriously!

I actually have very little to whine about for once. Yesterday was pretty darn good.
I bought a few more accessories for my guest bath at Ikea. The kelly green bath mat, a bath towel, and a couple of frames. Last time I bought washcloths in the green for countertop towel stand (the ‘hand towels’ were way too big), a new shower curtain, and a set little baskets. I have one piece embroidered in baragello that is in one frame (a little crooked..need to fix that) and I think I will make another for the 2nd frame. Now the guest bath yellow is not the yellow of the living room..it is crazy bright you blind you yellow. The natural color of the frames doesn’t look so great on that so I am thinking of maybe painting a green rectangle on the wall as a ‘frame’ for the frames. And yes, I am too lazy to just repaint the whole bathroom like I want to. 
Maybe later.
So on to the good day! So after Ikea I went to the yarn shop. Lots of people there which was nice and I also took a class about the Cat Bordhi Moebius Cast On. Terry at TYF taught the class and it went very well. As part of the class we tried on different moebius shawls, hoods, and scarves to see what we wanted to make for our first project and then calculate what size diameter would work for us and the amount to cast on. Moebius is that loop shape that has a half turn in the middle of it. Very cool. Also in class Terry gave me a ton of ideas to improve the glitter shrug from hell. I just may wind up being able to wear it without feeling like I borrowed something form a 10 year old.
Man I’m being detailed today! I’m just glad it was a good day so I want to capture it all me thinks. Anywho, while at the yarn shop I got a surprise call from a friend in Portland. YAY! It was very unexpected and really awesome. I totally suck talking on the phone. I mumble at the best of times in person so on the phone it is all mumbles and ‘uhhhh’ hehehe. This can have hilarious consequences I found. I told Megan that I was at ‘le yarn store’….if came out and was heard in Portland as ‘Le Orange Door’. 
We’ve decided it is a supah fancy French cafe. Oh yes, I am part of the jetset and ph so exclusive knitting in my fancy cafes. I’m such a dork being so estatic and shocked that someone would call me. Heehee.
After the yarn shop I went over to a yarn shop pal’s house (again…I have a friend…in person…omg!) to play Spore. OMG have you played this? We talked and hung out (she is working on some amazing Blythe clothes) and I wound up on that game for 7 hours!!!! Dude it was like 1.5 hours, 2 hours tops I swear! Oh no…it is available as a direct download…I’m in trouble. I haven’t even played WoW in a week so how can I add another game? Eeek! Maybe the cats can play WoW for me and finish leveling my character.
So yep, it was a good day and I’m really grateful for that.

Just a short note to announce that I bound off the glitter shrug from hell this morning! YAY!!! Photos forthcoming. I may have to send it to one of my young nieces as it may be a bit too small for me
Oh yes and my divorce paperwork is being filed today. I really never ever wanted to be a part of the D word. It sucks more than I can express. Feelings of failure, anger, sadness, confusion, grief, loss, weakness, strength, loneliness, pride, you name it! But life just doesn’t always turn out like you want so you just have to roll with it.

So my stupid DLP TV went out AGAIN on Sunday. Now the issues can probably be fixed with a soldering iron and getting at a board inside the thing but I hate the thing so I refuse to do it. So I am giving it to the ex and went out last night and bought a new TV. I got a Sony Bravia and last night it worked really well (OMG did anyone watch Heros and/or How I Met Your Mother???). My friend Devon helped me pick it out then she and I met up with Candace at Olive Garden where I had more than my equal share of the wine. Ooops.
I am working away on the TYF Mystery KAL blanket. I’ve moved on to Clue 4 and after Candy’s help I understand the stitch pattern well enough to correct mistakes. This weekend Candace and I will be going to a mobius shawl class so that should be good. And if I haven’t said it lately, if you knit listen to the podcast Cast On. Brenda Dane reminds me of my sister and there are loads of good stories as well as good music.
Oh yes…PowerShell. PowerShell is the best thing since sliced bread. I am running my script right now that goes to all of my Exchange 2003 servers and grabs the application log events and such to give me the database sizes along with how much of that is dumpster items and whitespace. It is soooooo cool!!!

Wednesdays at work are when status reports are due. So in keeping with that here is my status report:
- My work MacBook arrived and I have it set up with a Windows VM for the stuff I can’t do on a Mac. Woot and woot.
- I am nearing completion on my shrug from the glitter yarn from hell.
- I am still behind on the TYF Mystery KAL blanket but did work on it today.
- Fabric has shipped for a custom bag I need to make.
- Someone at work brought in rum balls. Hehehe I had two and am a little tipsy.
- And I really need to clean the house when I get home.
- I ordered an owlie from WillyNillyWaterlilly last night. YAY!

I marked down the Splatter Green bags and still have a few of the Yum Chocolates in stock. I want to build up my spinning wheel fund!!!
I think I will be created a new shop under the name SewPixie and direct people to the feedback I have under my current shop. I think too that will help people looking for me as they would be more apt to look under SewPixie than a last name they don’t know.
Other than that, I will be starting to work on cupcake themed bags soon. Before that I have one custom job and then a super special custom for a minklet\Blythe Rescue Mission custom doll.

Greetings world. Yes, yes I have been a bad blogger once again but eh it happens. For a while there I pretty much dropped off the face of the Internet (or intertubes or interwebs). I dunno what the deal was. Perhaps just a lot of the things going on just hitting home at once. For those few of you who read and have known me for a long long time may remember some of my more annoying quirks of feeling everyone hated me, yadda yadda. I had so thought those days were over but I yet again found myself feeling like I has 15 again and all that silly stuff in my head. *eye roll*. I think I am a bit past that but it is on the to-do list to figure out just what the heck is up with that. I cannot begin to imagine how annoying it is to deal with me when I am like that. Most sincere appologies to those who have had to do it! You know who you are.
So enough about that old stuff that became new again and on to more. Those who have known me for a good deal of time also used to know me by a different last name. Well, in the coming months I will once again wear that name. I think new Moo cards in order! Not sure if I should move Etsy shops though. You can’t change your Etsy name so it would mean setting up a new shop with new feedback. What do you think? It isn’t that I will cringe and feel ill when seeing the name I had for nearly a decade. It is more that I want to in some ways start fresh and in others return to pieces of me that have been hiding for a while yet I think they were good things that should come out again. So, new Etsy shop of just leave it with the old name??
In other news…
- I have been catching up on the past couple of years of the the podcast Cast On. I love it a lot! If you knit please check this one out and see if you like it.
- I started on the Mystery Blanket started by Tempe Yarn and Fiber. I just started on Clue 3 after a mishap on Clue 2. My awesome sister is inthe KAL too!!! YAY
- I am still keeping up with my Blythe 365 project. I am just way behind on posting the daily photos.
- I started playing WoW again. I was gone for 3 years but I felt left out hearing all the fun stuff from some peopel at work I know. I am a kickass Level 55 Night Elf Shadow Priest. WOO! Yes, I am a geek and I embrace it. If you have any single guy friends that like geeky girls keep me in mind
- I am pup sitting for Candace. Her two wiener dogs lick a lot and poop on my carpet. Other than that they are good fun.
- On Sunday I am walking in the Komen Race for the Cure in support of the cause and of my friend Suzanne.
- On Monday I went to Traffic Survival School. Yes, I know, I don’t drive. I ran a yellow (really it was YELLOW!!) on the scooter in July and the evil camera took my picture.
- I went back to auburn hair. I missed it so bye bye blondish hair and welcome back my old shade. It is mine, I bought it.
- I finally finished an order of dolly bags for Gina Garan. I need to finish packing them up tonight for shipping tomorrow. I was really slow on that order.
- The fab minklet of Blythe Rescue Mission has asked me to do another custom bag for one of her custom dolls. More news to come soon!
- I really want to go to Ikea to get a bunch of stuff. Anyone have experience with their delivery service?
