I broke myself

So Sunday morning I was taking photos of doll hats in my light tent. The table I had it on is a little low so I was bending down to take the shots. Well, I was standing wrong because all the sudden the top of my hip on the back left wrenched up. I broke myself. :( It hurts.

Despite that I went with Candace to JoAnn’s and to 35th Ave to buy fabric (yes I DO need more thankyouverymuch). This weekend I also finished the quilting on a quilt and finished the Baby Surprise Jacket. Next up is to finish a pair of socks for my niece in Indiana.

Oh yes, and Candace and I went with Devon to her family Christmas Eve. I about cried since I haven’t been to a family Christmas in a long time. *sniff* I want to download all of my memories so I never lose them. We had a nice time and her wacky family made it a load of fun.

Pssst..

Gracie here. So Monday while mom was gone making me money the doorbell rang. Now, I was in the middle of a really good Dr. Who episode so I wasn’t gonna go answer the door. Besides, people freak out when I answer the door, I have no idea why. Turns out it was a delivery from Japan. I am a doll but I’m not stupid!! I KNOW what that means. Nora says that this delivery is gonna ‘rock my little world’ so this must not happen! The slip was promptly stuffed in the couch.

Gah but it didn’t end there. They came back on Tuesday! What the heck man! These postal people are persistent. I had Pixel peek out the window and I went to stuff that slip in the couch too. Well, mom was all stomping around the house pissed about ‘no dolly’ and crap like that. Seriously, you’d think she was 3. *eyeroll* Auntie Devon distracted her by hanging out and watching Enchanted so that was cool.

Somehow mom found the slips and is going to be home to get the package on Friday. If I disappear from Flickr I am either in jail for Blythe-icide or mom has left me in the gutter ignored and unloved.

WordPress 2.7 & Doll Stuffs

This is the first time I’ve logged in since I updated WordPress to 2.7 yesterday. Wow, the dashboard interface is fantastic! The layout has had a dramatic facelift. I have only gone to the first page but I’m excited to check out the rest. Nifty.

In other news…um yeah. The house is still a mess, I have 4 Blythe\Dal Holiday Dresses to make and my bleeping Ashletina has spent her first week in the US at the post office! I missed her on Monday so scheduled her for Tuesday. Tuesday comes and no package! The note on the door was another delivery slip and a post-it that she has to be signed for. The slip on Monday did not have signature checked. *sigh* So I am working from home Friday anyways so they should be bringing her by then. Rawr!

And another Sunday comes to pass

Good morning! Before I get started on my day I thought I’d recap what I did this weekend so far.

The Holiday Party for work was Friday night. I haven’t been in a couple of years but some friends were going so I went. It is a pretty long drive up to where it is held in Scottsdale so many get a room at the resort. Devon and I did that and she drove us up there. I took the day off work so I could attend to the animals and pop over to get my hair cut. Had a new person do my hair and she did a great job with the cut and color. Yay! Has anyone else out there been having trouble with their debit or credit cards lately? I had a problem at two places with my PayPal card the other night and Devon had the same thing with her debit card at the mall and then again on Friday at the nail place we popped in to for manicures before the party. Weird huh.

Anyways, the party of good. In my normal style I was really self conscious the whole night. I really need to turn that energy into motivation to just get off my ass and do things that will improve how I perceive myself rather than on a flippin pity party.

The entertainment before dinner was really really bizarre. The theme was a night at the movies (red carpet, award winning movie posters everywhere) and they had a Dolly Parton impersonator to start with. She was fricking good! We had the hardest time trying to figure out if it was really her or not. The mannerisms were down pat, but why would the real Dolly Parton be at our Holiday Party? Then there was a fake Bette Midler. Yeah, that one was easy. The quest became to try and figure out if it was a man or woman! The last act (save for a Canadian Magician who was really creepy) was fake Temptations. They were pretty good. The food was good and the desserts were buffet style with lots of little pies and creme brules such. The after party had a casino area, pool, some shooting range game whose loud cracks and pops kept making us jump, and one of those basketball games. On the wall behind this stuff they were playing movies like Hoosiers (basketball), Casino (the casino stuff of course), and….I didn’t pay attention to the other two. The other side of the room had dancing, which I watched but so did not participate in. :)

I got a ride home with Candace and Matt Saturday morning and happily Candace is getting interesting in doll clothes and Blythe again so we made a stop at JoAnn’s. Okay, most of you I imagine have seen the pictures of my craft room and closet full of perfectly good fabric. Um yeah well…between the two of us we filled a cart with bolts of fabric. I stand by my rationalization that most of the fabric I bought was for dolly bags so it is an ‘investment’. I’m sticking to that reason. Yep…sure am. And the debit card thing…it had to be ran twice and the girl says they all had to be that day. Something weird is going on with the system me thinks.

The rest of the day was pretty normal, I’m still catching up on Dr. Who and doing crafty stuff. Some house cleaning is slowly getting done as well. I’ve been working on sifting through boxes and bag of junk and tossing out things I don’t need. That will be a pretty long project, but the hope is getting rid of some clutter will unclutter my mind.

Candace popped by last night and we sewed some dolly pajamas. And that is when I discovered that I had over a dozen sets of doll pajamas in a half finished state from last year!!! Holiday pajama sets that I totally forgot about. Why didn’t I realize this say a month ago when they would be in time for Christmas?

Quite frankly, not a lot to say

That about sums it up. Not much to report. Let’s break it into a lot of paragraphs so it looks longer than it is shall we…

I’ve been to the new casino by my house twice now. It isn’t huge but it is a good size and pretty fun. They have my fav slot machine so that makes me happy.

The company holiday party is Friday and I am actually going. I even bought a dress!

I did buy a new doll. It is a Primadolly Ashletina. It is just like the Ashlette (which is what Gracie is) but has a center part and bangs. I couldn’t resist. It has been nice getting back into the doll stuff. It makes me happy and feel creative. Plus, the friends I have made in the ‘doll community’ have been so wonderful.

I am WAY behind on completing things I wanted to send for Christmas. I always intend to do so well. I intend each year to send cards for each birthday and to send presents for Christmas. I start out well but then slack. I need to finish quilting Brandy’s quilt and bind it. And Bridget’s socks need finished. I’ll send what I can within the next week or so. As for cards, I think I need to get an organizer and buy all the cards for the year in one go. It’s a mix of procrastination, laziness, and total lack of attention for long time spans.

Oo oo yes and the scooter just went over 500 miles! Go me! The goal for 2009 I think needs to be test driving a SmartCar.
