I listed my first two items on ArtFire last night. It took a bit to get used to the interface but I think I did it correctly. It’s sort of like having a brick and mortar shop and opening up a second location across town. It did feel good to finally get some things listed, it had been weeks and weeks! It was a combo of lazy, messy, and distracted.

Last weekend Matt and Candace helped me get a ton of stuff from Ikea. The main idea was to get an Expedit for the sewing room. There was of course some prep work involved. I moved the salon table to another wall, moved out the large bookcase and in general got things out of the way.
All in all it took about an hour to build the Expedit. I had some tips ahead of time from some friends on some of the pitfalls of building this giant thing. I put down a sheet before building and that seemed to help a lot. After the main bookcase I build the inserts and also a Galant table. I set the table on the tall side so I don’t wreck my back near so much when cutting fabric. I was so crazy sore the next day though. Gyms should have an Ikea building area instead of free weights.
It is working on perfectly so far. I have a lot organized which makes it quicker to clean up when I make a mess. That is one thing that has been slowly improving over the past couple of years, I am finding homes for my stuff. One of these days the whole place will be on the mostly tidy side woot!
The rest of the weekend will be spent on cleaning, laundry (I also got new Malm bedside tables and a dresser so I can actually put my clothes away!) and getting some bags done. I haven’t listed in weeks and I still haven’t set up the Artfire shop. I have this weekend and next weekend before I take a short trip to CA. So yeah, I need to work out this weekend too. I actually made it to the gym on Friday and that felt great but also showed me that even if you don’t think you are getting any fitter, you probably are and will feel it if you stop. Oof. Having the treadmill that Candace gave me will help though.
Holy Crackers peoples! Artfire (a part of the buy handmade movement, gotta love it!) has selected SewPixie as a blog of the day! I feel all Sally Field like at the moment.
I’m quite inspired now to do a bit of updating. I’m at work, so once again Flickr shots are out. Yes, I am as deeply saddened as you are.
Knitting: Still at work on the February Lady Sweater. I am waiting on a 60″ cable from Knit Picks so I can try it on and see how many more rows I need until dividing out the sleeves. I am loving the green. I am also working on a present for a friend that I shall not yet reveal.
Sewing: A dear person contacted me to make a special Deluxe Dolly Carry Bag for her very first Blythe doll. We are working on something in baby blue with white dots and lace. I’m eager to get started on the quilting. I still get so geeked about dolly bags. I love that Linda and other encouraged me to make more after that first one. Also on the books is a bag a little larger than the Petite Blythe one for Strawberry Shortcake to fit in to.
Sewing Studio: Yes, I am still debating on what I want to do. I really want the Expedit so I’m thinking that in place of the tall bookcase and maybe in place of the Billy bookcases as well. I also want a new table, perhaps a Galant. I’ve been playing with the Ikea Home Planner in my spare time.
Crochet: I am working on more hats to full, but it has been slow going. Right now I am working on some white wool. I have two little fulled hats ready but am stumped on what colors to use for the embellishments.
Non-Crafty: The last bit of paperwork was turned in on Friday so in about 4 weeks I can start working on going back to my maiden name. I’ve been pondering lately on how far I have come in regards to acceptance of the situation and my hope is that I am a far better person having gone through the past few years. I certainly hope I can continue to be a better person to be around. Vacation in May is still on. And yes, I’m still a little freaked out, in a good way though.
