Shall I ever catch up?

…mehtinks no.

No photos again since I am at work sad to report. Oh let’s see, what has been going on?

Knitting Retreat: The faboo TYF retreat was the weekend of the 17th. My sister got to fly out from Indy to take part and a good time was had by all. I took the wheel and did some spinning and also worked on some projects. Oh yes, and there was a lot of singing. Not by me mind you..however there was a lovely ‘Malabrigo’ sung to the tune of ‘Ave Maria’.

Knitting: My February Lady Sweater is done and lovely. I am now sort of winging it with a cotton version in stockinette and without the lace. Instead, the plan is to have owl cables along the bottom hem. I love the Owls! sweater but don’t yet want to dive into the shaping I’ll have to do for it to fit me, so cardigans it is!

Hubert: So um…Hubert lost a few pounds during the break (meaning I gained some) but is getting back into action now. On day 6 of this round Hubert is where he was on day 16 of the last round. We’ll see how it goes.

Around the House: Things are still messy but on the road to improvement. My cleaning style is to do things in bursts, frequently changing which room I am cleaning. Little by little the work gets done. A favorite is to mad clean or do a task during commercials.

Happy 5th of July

Yeah I’m late. Ppttt

What have I been up to (besides being poked in the chest by a 3 year old and asked what was in my shirt…no really it happened yesterday)? Well, cooking a lot more lately as shown by how often I need to load the dishwasher. Stabilization on my weight plan is going well. I have found that there is some hidden sugar and or starch in steak n veggies n salad at Outback. Not too worry though, I’m still at just over 2 pounds over my LIW (last injection weight). It has been very interesting to see how little things affect my weight and learn what my personal limits are. Oh and there is a stevia sweetened soda called Zevia. Doesn’t taste bad and woot woot zero glycemic index so much better for me than my Pepsi obsession. My general long-range plan is not to eliminate the foods I dearly love. That’s no way to live (for me) and I’d be really sad to never have a baked potato again. Instead, where I can substitute foods that work better for my body I will (for example cauliflower pizza crust) which in my mind leaves room for indulgences. So I guess I just took the long way to say ‘balance’ huh. shrug I ordered supplies for my next hCG round the other day so Hubert should be on the move again in late July. Wheee! In the mean time, I’m going to get back on the treadmill and maybe back to the gym for some healthy exercise.

On the computer front the new PC is doing well. The MacMini has not beat it up yet and the MacBook is a work computer so I don’t think it really cares. Yes, I do anthropomorphize things all the time thankyouverymuch. My old hard drive is in there as a 2nd drive (so pleased that I actually thought to get a SATA drive all those years ago) and it had been nice that I can get at some of the apps on there like Dreamweaver. I have Sims 3 installed as well as Spore and Wow. Since I am going to BlizzCon in August with C & M and D it would only be fitting to have actually logged onto Wow huh. They helped me out and my main character, PallasAthene finally got to level 60. Zack & Kelly had a LAN Party for the 4th and there I was able to get to 61. I still have little idea about what I’m doing. I just press my little buttons and hope for the best. Sometimes I am more girly-girl that geeky-girl. LOL. Besides games, I have been trying to sort out my GTD system. Started out using Notebook on my Mac, which is nice, but a bit tricky in that I want to be able to get at it from anywhere. A paper notebook would be perfect, but I tend to doodle and it is more difficult to search quickly once there is enough data in it. Couple that with my desire to use the web hosting that I pay for (use it for more than just a blog and email that is) and the result is wanting something hosted by me. By go-to thing is database backend with a php or other frontend application. However, I’ve found lots of people just using text files for their GTD and I like the way in which I can code things in such a way that I can just grep the files to query for what I want and also have the freedom to type more freeform things. So now I’m looking at writing some simple PHP pages to grep out things like next action lists by context and such. Also, I learning a little bit about Applescript and the Automator so I can schedule my MacMini to go get all my GTD files on my site and back them up each morning. Nifty!

In the sewing world I have been working on bags. Sent one out priority mail to a town just a few hours away and the dang thing didn’t get there on time. UGH! Really ticked about that and as soon and I confirm it really did miss the mark on when it was to get there I am so refunding that shipping money. Yeah note to self, never ever use the freaking work mail drop again. Oh yes…bags bags bags. I noticed that last summer I also went into a sort of online malaise. Something seasonal with me? Or perhaps I don’t balance out my energy well and just run myself into the ground. No clue. There are a good dozen or more bags being worked on now. Okay notright now, I did wake up really late today (got to bed about 5am) and after typing this long arse post will get right back to sewing.

Guess that is most of it. The house is a wreck and dolly bags don’t make themselves so I best get to it. Ta-ta!
