The best of times…the worst of times

So yesterday was a mixed bag. On the good side I scooted my way to JoAnns. ‘Big deal’ you may think…but for the scared-to-drive girl it was pretty darn good to go down Chandler Blvd on Saturday morning the 3-4 miles to the store…then to the bank…then to the grocery. Woo hoo and ‘go me’/ :)

And then things went bad from there. The AC was making an odd rattling noise…before that it sounded odd when it turned off. I didn’t think much of either of these things. Then yesterday afternoon the burning smell started. Now that I thought something of. I turned off the the AC. Tried it again and no cold air. I called the repair people (found someone in the phone book that didn’t charge extra for weekends) and they were going to have someone come out Sunday. About an hour later they called again and were sending someone out that night since they had a cancellation.

The blower motor is unbalanced (pretty much meaning not there isn’t ANYTHING balanced in my life) and a bad bearing yadda yadda. They guy had the right motor but in the unit I have now the bracket is fused to the motor so the guy had no way to put the new one in. Mornday the motor and wheel will be ordered and I can get those put in. So much for the savings pike I had started to accumulate.

Ferrets don’t do well in the heat so I was really freaked out about my baby. I called B and he said he would get him in the morning. So I slept in small slices throughout and the night, awaking to check on Napoleon and put ice near him and wet him (ferrets can’t sweat to a fan alone doesn’t do much). The thermostat read 90 so I was really paranoid since that is around the temp where he could have had heatstroke. His little footpads were warm and I had to keep checking if they and his nise looked too pink.

B came this morning and took Napoleon until Thursday and took Kitaro too. I miss that little guy so much. So it is just me and the cats here for now. We’ve got the front and back door open and all fans going. Those new windows can’t get here fast enough!

I suspect Napoleon has rat tail (but there is also a chance of adrenal disease) so he is going to the vet Thursday along with B’s kitten.

And this is my last day of vacation. I really want to cry. I don’t want to go back to that place. I feel my soul dying already. I have more than enough to deal with in my life that I don’t need the drama of that place.

Let’s recap though that I did get done over my vacation:
* cleaned sewing room including the closet!
* rode scooter a lot
* whacked weeds in the back
* ordered new windows
* finished a quilt
* started 2 new quilts
* sent a swap package
* kept the house picked up
* saw Louis CK at the Improv
* made lots of Blythe clothes for Gracie
* emailed an old friend
* tried meditation

I did want to get the bathrooms cleaned but I think that will have to wait until I get the AC fixed. I did way more crafting than I did cleaning but eh I figure I needed the crafting due to all the stress I have right now.

Negative R rating?

The person is supposed to be here in about a half hour to give an estimate for replacement windows. As can be seen in the photo I have single pane windows now, some of which are now cracked. It is Monsoon season in Arizona so I am so worried that a gust of wind is going to come and just smash the whole window. I am pretty sure the grids are keeping them together now.

New windows are part of a many-many-many part plan to fix up the house (once known as Chai Cottage…but I’m not so sure now considering the current family situation). I’ve also been trying to work on cleaning up the back yard (aka the pit of weed hell). There is still a little bit of painting left that I will try to finish up while I am on vacation.

Yep, I am off work all this week! I’ve been working on cleaning (real cleaning not my patenented stuff-it-all-in-a-box method) and craft projects. Thursday I am going to the Improv with A and some other people.

Hmm I wonder if the new wndows will also cut down on all of the dust in the house. I really hope though that no longer will the whole house rattle when Kitaro jumps on the patio door. :P

Sewing Room is Clean!

…please note that this does not say that the closet in the sewing room is clean as well. ;)

Yesterday the sewing room got cleaned up. This is a part of Operation Clean Up Vacation. The closet still needs to the gone through but this is a really good start. Under the table are just some empty boxes and a plastic drawer set (I threw a white sheet over the table to cover that up). Sometime soon that folding table will be replaced with a white table from Ikea and another green chair will join the existing one. There are still some crafty things in other parts of the house that need put away but we will get to that over time.

I also added a little bit to the Bella Dia inspired fabric wall. Meh, I don’t love mine near as much as hers. Her scale and layout is so nice. I have a hard time parting with fabric so I didn’t want to give up very large pieces. Perhaps I will remake them soon. I just taped the fabric on rather than use double-stick tape so I will do that when I do them again. And, I kept them all the same exact dimensions in the columns and it looks like she changed hers up a bit.
