Have I finished the vinyl tiles in the bathroom your ask? Nope, not yet. I have two pieces to go that need to be done once the old toilet is lifted off. Well, and there is a bad trim job on another piece so I should pull that one up and re-do it. I’m going to see if I can manage to sweet talk S into helping me go get the new toilet and install it this weekend or next. I did however start on the dining room floor last week. I have only a few more tiles to go to finish that off. The kitchen is next but moving the fridge and stove may make that tricky. I am tempted to pull up the stinky carpet in the back bedroom and do this as well but I’m not so sure that is a good idea. I would really like instead to have laminate flooring again in place of the carpet.

Yes, I fell off the Internet again. I won’t go into all the reasons why but I am working to put myself back together and perhaps move a little step further along a path that will lead to where I want to be.

I have been cleaning up the house a bit. The bleeping guest room toilet had a leak and it seems that I made it worse in my attempts to fix it. I am now fed up with the thing and am going to replace it. Went to look at suitable replacements last night and also bought some self-stick flooring. I imagine that it isn’t the best and most fancy stuff in the world, but I am pretty sick of seeing my old blah vinyl floors. So I bought one box for the guest bath and nearly finished it last night. I’m thinking now to get some more to redo the other bathroom, the kitchen, and the dining room. It is fairly inexpensive and when it wears out I can just have tile put in or something. I’ve already been thinking about that for a few years. Am I doing all the proper prep work and putting leveling stuff on top of the existing floor? Um…well…no. Yeah yeah I know that is bad but really I’m looking for it to look better than what is there now and last say a year or so. So sue me. Other than that I’ve been trying to wrestle the yarn and fiber stash into submission and clean up and organize in general.

Still not much in the shop right now. I did recently finish some custom orders one of which was a request for patchwork like I did for the Blythe Con 2009 bag. I’m shocked at how well it turned out. There is even embroidery on it…of letters…that I did…that doesn’t suck! Woot! Photos are over in the custom order section of the shop. I have two 4-day weekends this month so I really really am going to try harder to get some things listed.

Also, I’m all updated on WordPress and I kinda want a new theme. I like the colors and banner I have now, but I’d like an up to date theme code wise. Anyone out there have any suggestions for good themes that are easy for the end-user to customize?

I was really hoping for over 50# by next week so we could stabilize and have some goodies for the birthday. Get the lead out!

Frustrated but hopeful,
SewPixie

ps..OMFG I drove to work today…on the freeway…by myself…and didn’t hit anything…and didn’t cry. Have I mentioned how weird it feels that I am pretty okay driving now? Those that have known me the longest probably understand the best. ‘Scared to drive’ was just a part of my identity. Oh that’s Becca…she doesn’t drive. So much of life had to revolve around it. How am I going to get to X place? Do I need to beg for a ride? Do I take a bus…which route? Do I even try X activity because I’d need a ride to get there? Can I buy this at the store because it won’t fit on the scooter? How do I explain, again, to new people why I don’t drive? Blah blah blah. I’m just hoping that this means more good things to come.

My sewing motivation ran off somewhere and I’ve been trying to find it. However, I’ve been knitting a lot and did some spinning today. Some gals from the yarn shop organized a Spin Out at a local park and it was lovely to spend some time outside with some crafty people.

Hubert is holding steady. The joys of hormones has it sort of stalled but not going into reverse. I might not hit my goal that I wanted before I go into stabilization but it should at least be close. More people are noticing the change and it is hard not to admit that feels good and helps keep me motivated. I’ve going to be going off the hcg for a bit so I can eat some goodies for my birthday and then go back for another round later on.

With some other things I go between feeling very encouraged to letting some people making me feel very discouraged. It really stinks and I know I need to let it go and just let to world take the course it wants.

On the to-do list is still creating galleries of the different types of bags. However, there now a page for recent custom orders that have been completed so go take a look! I am finding that I like the media upload here on WordPress so that is making things pretty easy. I did have to fiddle with the CSS for the current theme so that the gallery tag wasn’t broken but all seems well now. Darn those floats!

In other news…I did manage to tidy up the Expedit shelves in the sewing room. This is in addition to getting the fabric pretty much under control a few weekends ago. That being said…I’ve been going fabric crazy again so I need to keep that in check! The fabric that I have decided not to keep needs to be dealt with also. For the nicer stuff I think I shall de-stash on Etsy then the rest either dontate or perhaps see if my sister wants some for the kids to play with. Last time I saw them little niece B was doing pretty good at a sewing machine.

The car is doing pretty well! I have mastered driving to the places that I used to go to on the scooter and have even made a few trips to Joanns’s for supplies. Next up is a further drive and going to the yarn shop. Oh! And I even went through the drive through at Taco Bell! Small victories. Now I just need to go about selling the scooter.

Other things new around the house are new solar lights in the front yard and a new couch in the living room. Gosh, there is actually seating in the house so now to just tidy up enough to invite people over to hang out.

So I took the plunge yesterday. No, I did not get married again. I bought a car. A car that I will drive. For most people that isn’t a big deal. They happily drive to this place and that without a care in the world. Oh, going to this location will take me through 5 left turns and onto the highway? No biggie. Now to me…different story. Most people who read this already know my whining about driving. I never quite got enough consistent practice so each time was like starting over. Finally at 27 I took a course and received my license. Later that week I drove myself to the library and then on the way home decided to get some gas. I promptly took the turn badly and crunched into the gas pump. I declared myself too stupid to drive and a stealer of oxygen.

More recently I’ve had some successful short drives with someone in the passenger seat. Friday night I took a rental car I had (since S had to leave early) to Walgreens by my house and back again. First solo trip to and from somewhere with no crashing…ever. I am nearly 34 and that was the 1st ever success by myself. I admit it, I cried in the driveway for about 15 minutes. Saturday morning the car had to go back so I got it there then C picked me up for an errand I needed to do. For a year or more I have been vowing that with my tax refund i would be getting a car. You know those things you declare and set a far off date for. They are never really going to come to pass and everyone will just forget. Well, it doesn’t work out that way sometimes. C is very persuasive and told me we were going to Honda for me to look at the car I had pretty much decided on. We went…I test drove a base model…I didn’t hurt anyone…the salesman didn’t wet himself due to my driving. So far so good. They check the used lot and lo and behold they just for in a low mileage Fit in last year’s model in the Sport edition. Only about 6k miles on it and with more features than the regular base model. And in a lovely silver color to boot. Best…certified used so the warranty is hella long and the price is that of the base model. We test drove that one and all was well. C and M (via text) help me out with making sure the offer is reasonable and I buy it! M was advocating the whole you leave the place and come back stuff but I know that if I didn’t do it that I would talk myself out of doing it ever. I am very skilled in talking myself out of things that go outside my comfort zone. C followed me home from the dealership (no, I did not take the freeway…babysteps!) and then later I took it to the grocery. This morning I took it to CVS. Did I need anything from CVS? Not really. But what I did need was an excuse to try a little trip. I still can’t believe I am one step closer to almost being a normal person.

Complete Crafting 365: So far so good!

Knit a vest: I dunno…I just want a vest. ^_^

Improve my spinning: Just joined a hand-dyed wool roving of the month club by Pancake and LuLu to help with that!

Update my stash on Ravelry: It is way out of date!

Destash some fabric: Really..there is bound to be stuff I will never use and can go to a better home.

Organize my photos: I recently moved my pictures form the mac to the PC and at about 4k pictures a year there is some room for improvement there!

Sew more for the shops: Also branch out a bit with designs…like a knitted carry bag!

The cast on was 1,500 stitches!! There are several pairs of circular needles being used to travel the huge circumference.

The changes coming to WoW are just amazing and I am really impressed about how rich the story is that they have created over these many years. There were a couple of snags withthe convention but eh most things have at least one problem right?

Disneyland was pretty cool too. I think I’d like to go back in the Fall when they have the Lincoln attraction back up.

Hubert is 32 pounds today! 32 pounds gone since Memorial Day ain’t too shabby. I gained some while on vacation due to what I ate and boy could I feel it. I have a little bit left on this round and then I will be doing stablization until at least after I get back from BlytheCon next month.

Speaking of BlytheCon I finally picked up the materials for the speical bags I am making for the raffle. I’ll have to see how it goes this weekend since I’m a bit nervous now. Worst case I will select new material right?
